Merlicator Information -- Assembly (Back to TOC)

 1. Assembly

     1.1       Reservoir

     1.2          Incoming Air

The Merlicator that you have purchased is a precise piece of lubricating equipment. It is important that you read through this instruction manual before hooking up or attempting to use your Merlicator so that you may familiarize yourself with each component as to how it works and how best to maintain it in good working condition.

1.  ASSEMBLY

     1.1  Reservoir   (Fig. 1A)

If the reservoir is not attached to the unit  when you receive it, use a 3/4” wrench (not more than 6' long) on the hex (a) at the base of the reservoir and tighten it securely into the opening located on the top of the lubricator.

*   DO NOT USE NYLON OR VINYL THREAD TAPE OR PIPE DOPE OR PLUMBERS CEMENT.

Remove the cap (b) and fill the reservoir about 1/3 full.  Replace the cap. The 10 oz. reservoir is self venting.

 1.2  Incoming Air

Clean air is important in maintaining the best operating condition of your Merlicator.  If you have clean, particle free, water free, and oil free air, go on to the next section.

If your air is contaminated with oil and/or water, a combination air particle filter and coalescing filter is required.  Correct filters will keep all moving parts free from contamination and will not allow excess water or compressor oil to compete with the small amount of MerLube that is applied to the tool.  For more information refer to Section 4.1.

It is important that all filter equipment be installed in an upright position and that the incoming air is installed on the air input side of the filter. The air follows the arrow on top of the filter. There are two types of filters: automatic and manual. If installed correctly automatic filters need no attention. When using a manual filter it is important to keep the containing vessel empty of contaminants. This is done by pushing up on the black sleeve on the bottom of the filter. We suggest automatic bleeding units over manual units. Our warranty does not cover components damaged by a contaminated air condition (Refer to warranty coverage in section 7). More filter information refer to section 4.1.
